GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU!
(Psalm 139:13-24)

…We are usually very impressed with smart people.  Those who receive the Noble Peace prize are often carried about as modern day prophets.  Did you know that you can actually see Einstein’s brain?  At his death, his brain was thought to be so special that they pickled it.
…Yet, when you compare God’s knowledge with man’s, man all but disappears having a knowledge that is absolutely puny by comparison.  God knows everything, and always has.  Our knowledge is learned and very limited, being obscured as a result of the Fall.
…David, in this most wonderful Psalm, has been musing about the glory of God.  He has been thinking about God’s knowledge and His omnipresence.  This morning we will discover more of David’s musings about the Lord.
TWO ACTIONS WE MUST TAKE WHEN STUDYING THE GREATNESS OF THE LORD OUR GOD.
I. We, Like David, Need To Praise God For His Mighty Power, Seen Here In Creating Human Life. (vv. 13-18)   The idea: since God created David, He knew him completely. You and your days are designed by God.
A.   Here God’s power and control over the natural process of reproduction is observed.
1.    The Lord wonderfully made David (and you) in his mother’s womb.  (vv. 13-14)
2.   God not only sees the invisible and penetrates the inaccessible, but is operative there, as the author of every detail of my being.
…God is said to have “woven” him in his mother’s womb.  (v. 13)
…David pauses to give praise to the Lord.  (v. 14)   “fearfully and wonderfully made.”
B.    David highlights certain features of God’s oversight of our unborn bodily development. (15-18)
1.    God watched the whole process of our development in the womb.  (15)  “my frame…”
…”the secret place” and  the “depths of the earth” refer to the womb.
2.   The fact is, even at this beginning, God has designed all of your days.  (16)  (Job 14:5)
…God has a plan for each one of us.  Take heart, He has made us for Himself.
3.   David tells that God is extremely interested in us…”you are always on my mind.” 17-18
…God’s thoughts for you are more than you could ever count!
C.    These verses plainly teach the individuality of a child while it is still in its mother’s womb.
1.    The chief issue in the abortion issue concerns the identity of the fetus.
…Probationist:  “it’s my body, I can do with it what I please.”
…A generation ago, everyone referred to the unborn child as a baby.  Pregnant woman knew they were carrying  a baby.
2.   It’s hard to think about killing a baby, so today the unborn child is called a fetus, or the embryo, or even mere tissue instead.  This is not how the Bible talks about it!
3.   We have today a growing medical knowledge of the unborn undermining this delusion.
…Aristotle said the fetus becomes human when it first moves.  Today we know that the unborn child is  constantly moving from conception.
…Others say it is human when it is able to survive outside the womb, yet advances in premature babes make it possible for very small infants to survive.
…Still others, when there is brain activity, yet we know there is brain activity in the unborn child even before the mother is aware that she is pregnant.
The Point:  There is not a point at which the unborn child is not human!!!!   Each unborn child is unique and special.
II. We, Like David, Need To Properly Respond To The Lord Who Is All-Knowing, Omnipresent, And All-Powerful.  (vv.19-24)
A.   We should respond in loyalty to God by separating ourselves from all who practice evil. (19-22)
1.    These are men who are murderers, defy God, curse His name, and hate the Lord.
…David wants no part of the evil that evil men devise.  He seeks to separate himself…
2.   His avoidance of evil people is not because he is too good for them.  No!  But because he cannot trust himself in evil company.  He too is sinful and prone to the same sins.
B.    We should respond in loyalty to God’s desires.  Ask Him to search your heart and purge you of any sin.  (vv23-24) We need to keep walking and growing in God’s way.  This is David’s focus!!!
LESSONS FOR OUR LIVES:
1. God's omniscience ought to humble us.
2. God's knowledge should certainly comfort us. The one who knows us the best, loves us the most.
3. God's knowledge should motivate us to live for Him.
4. Stand up for the lives on unborn children.
5. If you are here and you don't know Christ as your Savior, you are under wrath. I urge you to repent of your sin. Flee to the Savior today.
