GOD’S
AMAZING TIMETABLE
(Daniel
9:20-27)
…What __time__
is it? This is a question that we ask most every day. Most of us work with a
daily schedule and a clock to help us carry out our duties and
responsibilities. It is one thing to know the time of day, it is far more
important to know what __time__ it is according to biblical prophecy.
…You know, of
course, that the Lord created time, and that He has an unstoppable __plan__
that works within a time schedule. He is on time and will __complete__
His plan to the smallest of detail.
…In Daniel 9, we
discovered the aged Daniel praying his great confessional prayer. (vv1-19)
Daniel was asking the Lord to restore Israel…while praying, God sent him the __answer__
to his prayer. God’s wonderful answer included His amazing timetable for the __finishing__
of His plan of redemption.
THREE TIME SEGMENTS FOUND WITHIN THE “70 WEEKS OF PROPHECY” TELLING US THE
PROPHETIC TIME.
…This is one of the truly
great prophecies found in our Bible, for TIME is the
__backbone__
of Bible prophecy.
I.
THE FIRST 69 WEEKS PINPOINT
THE VERY DAY JESUS RODE INTO JERUSALEM ON
__PALM__
SUNDAY. (vv20-25)
A.
Daniel did
__not__
finish his prayer…for God sent the angel Gabriel to answer him. (vv20-23)
…He was “highly esteemed in heaven”…wow! (v 23)
B.
Daniel is
first told the prophecy as a whole by Gabriel. (v 24) “70 sevens are decreed
for your people and your holy city…” This involves the nation of Israel. This
is not the __church__.
C.
Six things done for Israel
by the end of the 70th week:
1.
The
first 3 have to do with __sin__:
…God
will finish the transgression of Israel.
…God will put an
__end__
to sin.
…God
will atone for wickedness.
2.
The
last 3 have to do with the __Kingdom__:
…God
will bring in everlasting righteousness.
…God
will seal up the vision and prophecy.
…God will anoint the Holy
(One) __Jesus!

D. This
idea of “weeks” here is a period of 7 years. “70 sevens” means
__490__
years.
E. The
KEY: God’s clock __began__
ticking…from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem. This is well known…King Artxerxes…Nehemiah
2:1-8…__March
14__,
445 BC
F.
The noted
event here: is when “the Anointed One Comes.” (v 25) Luke 19:28-42 “this Day”
1.
7
weeks…49 years…this is the time it took to rebuild
__Jerusalem__.
2.
Plus 62
more weeks, total 69 weeks, or 483 years. (173,880 days)
3.
Jews
used the 30 day month, lunar calendar…360 days in a year, add for leap year, 116
days, and only one year from 1 BC to 1 AD, and add 24 days to March 14th…the
day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday:
__APRIL
6, 32 AD__
II.
THE GAP BETWEEN THE 69TH
AND THE 70TH WEEK IS NOW KNOWN AS THE
__CHURCH__
AGE. (V 26)
This is the mystery, never mentioned in the Old Testament.
A.
There are only
__two__
events that are foretold to us during our age. The clock has stopped!
1.
First, Jesus,
the Anointed One, would be cut off. This is His
__death__.
2.
The
city of Jerusalem would be __destroyed__ by the Romans. 70 AD !!! Titus.
B.
The only other
description given of our day: “__War__
without end” !!!
III.
THE FINAL TIME FRAME
IS THE 70TH WEEK, WHICH IS A 7 YEAR PERIOD OF TIME ENDING WITH THE
__SECOND__
COMING OF JESUS. (V 27)
A.
This man,
__Antichrist__,
will make a covenant with Israel providing peace and safety for her.
…he is a nation
leader of the old Roman empire. This is a 7 year treaty, which he breaks
after 3 ½ years. Then, he will seek to be __worshipped__ by an image in
the temple of Israel
.…The
book of Revelation 6-19. 666…the mark of the beast. This is Satan’s man…
B.
Jesus will
deal with him when He returns to earth to establish His KINGDOM.
LESSONS FOR OUR LIVES:
1.
Today is the gap, the church age. Come to Christ and be saved.
2.
Be encouraged, the God of Heaven is in control of this old sinful world.
3.
Be amazed at God’s Word. God is a God of details.
4.
As you glance at your watch to check the time, let your watch remind you of
God’s 70 week clock and it’s almost over.
5.
When God tells us something, He expects us to understand it and know it.
